Choir & Music
The Chancel Choir at OSLC has an impressive history of musical leadership in worship. We rehearse Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30pm, Septermber through June. The choir participates in the 10:00am Service on Sundays, with a rehearsal just prior at 9:330am. The choir is open to all persons interested in singing.

Choir Director
 
Dr. Karl Snider, Instructor of Voice, AmSAT Certified Instructor of the Alexander Technique, Baritone
 
Dr. Karl Snider teaches voice and Alexander Technique at Loyola Marymount University. A highly versatile musician, Dr. Snider negotiates a busy schedule of workshops in the Alexander Technique, musical direction of opera and musical theatre, performance with the Pacific Chorale, and conducting a variety of eclectic ensemble projects.
 
Recently Dr. Snider served as musical director for LMU’s production of South Pacific. As a guest performer with the Pacific Chorale, he toured with the Boston Pops Orchestra and sang with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in Ravel’s Daphne and Chloe Ballet. His workshops in the Alexander Technique include those with the Oakland Symphony Chorus, The National Assocaition of Teachers of Singing, Los Angeles, and The Music Teachers Association of Southern California, Orange County. He teaches an ongoing class in the Technique at the New California Conservatory. Dr. Snider is coordinator of the Annual General Meeting 2006 of the American Society for the Alexander Technique.
 
Classical vocal students of Dr. Snider can be seen at the Los Angeles Opera, The Los Angeles Master Chorale, Opera Pacific, Pacific Chorale, as well as matriculating to significant graduate programs. His musical theatre students can be seen in a variety of venues around the country.
 
Karl Snider holds degrees from the University of Southern California (DMA), Eastman School of Music (MA), and Pomona College (BA).
 
Dr. Snider has been active in church music since his youth. He has worked at OSLC since 2002. He came to OSLC from First United Methodist Church, Whittier, where he served as Music Director for twelve years.

Organist

Patricia Hannifan has been the organist at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church for
the past 12 years and also has served as interim Choir Director and Handbell
Director. She serves as both Staff Accompanist and Adjunct Professor at Los
Angeles Valley College and has served in the same positions at East Los
Angeles College. She is also Adjunct Professor at Los Angeles City College
where she teaches organ. In addition, Ms. Hannifan is a freelance
accompanist as pianist and organist in the greater Los Angeles area,
accompanying students and professors at Northridge and Long Beach State
Universities, USC, and UCLA. She teaches piano and organ and coaches singers
in her private studio.

She is presently working on a DMA in organ performance at UCLA, studying
with Christoph Bull. She holds a Master's Degree in Organ from the Flora L.
Thorton School of Music at the University of Southern California and a
bachelor's degree in music (organ specialization) from CSU Northridge.
Ms. Hannifan has twice been awarded the Artistic Director Achievement Award
for "Best Music Director" by the Valley Theater League for her work with the
Woodland Hills Community Theatre. She has created arrangements for organ and
brass and for five years was the principal accompanist at the Claude Gordon
International Brass Workshop where she worked with prominent players such as
Frank Kaderabek, principal trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra. From 1995
to 1999 she was the Accompanist/Organist for The San Gabriel Valley Choral
Company under the direction of Thomas Miyake, its founder.
